After having our first child in 2007, we grew accustomed to the doctor measuring her height and weight at every visit. Then visits changed from monthly to every three months, eventually extending to six months, sadly we were no longer up-to-date on her measurements. During conversations amongst family, friends and mommy groups we would share stories about our children's growth spurts, however we simply didn’t have an easy way of tracking this information accurately anymore. Our daughter was growing quickly and it was easily forgotten how tall she was just a short time ago. We acknowledged the importance of having this information for her to look back on later in life and perhaps to someday share with her children. When I was young, my three sisters and I would mark our height on a wall in the basement. Once we moved from that house those memories were gone forever. |
I decided to search online for a growth chart, one that would track her growth from toddler stage to a teenager and also compliment the décor in her room. Thus my mission began, to find something pretty that could accurately track her height while combining the convenience of being able to move the growth chart with us. There were very few options out there, and none that met all of my requirements. Coming up unsuccessful with my search I was frustrated and disappointed, and then alas! I remembered her Dad is a graphic designer!. I asked him to design what would now be considered, our first custom growth chart. It was PERFECT! That year all the babies who were part of our Mommy & Baby group and our friends children received their own personalized growth chart as a gift for their birthday or Christmas. All the parents loved the charts and were inquiring where we purchased them from and thus began a new era of tracking for children’s growth. The charts are great for families to use personally or even better to present as a gift to another family. This is a gift that you know wil be used an will be around for many years to come.
